A couple of years ago i was hiring a sound team for a game. The biggest challenge was to hire someone who would make the monster sounds. For some reason the game director wanted to do it “like Mike Patton in I am Legend” and it was the single stupidest recruitment campaign i had to endure. Lots of deathgrowl dudes being very same and sweaty. And what do you know - the candidate who got the job was a girl who went to the interview for shits and giggles and she didn’t even tried sounding Lovecraftian eldritch abomination. And then she got screwed out of proper credit and quit the business.

I tried monster once in like 2019 and it tasted so bad I never bought an energy drink since

If I want caffeine I just get coffee

So coke makes you an “asshole” apparently. I wouldn’t call cynicism and slight aggressivness asshole traits (at least that’s what cigarettes make even more noticeable in my personality). If there is one thing I objectively love about myself it’s cynicism.

And of course don’t smoke. It really fucks with your lungs and makes mental health problems way worse.

                Well it is a stimulant.

Not sure how the same it is. Like saying dilotted and alcohol are the same because theyre both depressants.

I’m not sure it destroys your body less, but it certainly destroys everyone else’s bodies a lot more.

Unfortunately the cost of an energy drink at least around here is nearly the cost of a large gas station coffee ~2.50$. and that’s for shit gas station coffee, if you go to like Starbucks you will pay double that easily.

I treat caffeine as a drink for the effects, not for the taste. Only energy drinks are good for the taste when I want both.

Instant coffee, raw coffee, the shitty coffee that comes in MRE packets, the fancy stuff that costs too much, espressos, 5-hour energy, I’ll chug it all down all the same. Treat it like vodka or whiskey - don’t bother trying to taste it.

I love the taste of energy drinks, it tastes like liquid gummy bears to me (which is a good thing). But the name brand stuff is super expensive and I definitely don’t want to have a pint of it in a container that can’t be closed again. Also I get digestive issues from caffeine, haha

Its not the same. The people are not talking about monster energy because of the taste or the effect, they are talking about it because of their marketing. It would be like people talking about a movie because of poster they saw.

i don’t see how that is different, people are discussing things they enjoy and the community that has developed around that.

the queer and trans communities making monster a common character trait has even advertised to, like if understand if they had specifically done a unch of shit but unless you consider them sponsoring https://www.capitalpride.org/pride_sponsors/ or their corporate ass “diversity” page https://www.monster.com/about/diversity-and-inclusion/ I don’t think they’ve done much to encourage trans people to drink their drink

would you think the weed community sending a stoner meme is the same thing? I wouldn’t consider that an advertisement

would you consider a video game sub talking about an update an ad?

Monster is actually a company that I will try to avoid as much as possible, specifically for their marketing. It’s one of the few energy drinks that I can tolerate and it would be my default “go to” when I need one, but I refrain from buying them because I remember seeing their giant pickup trucks in the streets of my city and I hate them.

I bought hundreds of cans before but since I’ve seen a few of their monstrosities parade in my city, I avoid them.

    Okay, flame war time.

You need caffeine, but you also want some decent flavor.

    Redbull, Monster, or Rockstar?

(Not including Reign because that is a “I need to do this 6 hour drive, fuck my organs” drink)

Redbull is overpriced and tastes like the most generic energy drink flavor and Rockstar has no decent sugar free options (although blueberry Rockstar was pretty decent if I recall, but I don’t like the idea of having so much sugar). Leaves only Monster.

I find energy drinks disgusting, the sweetness is overwhelming, and I generally don’t mind sweet drinks, but there’s something in those that just disgusts me.

Monster white isn’t sweet for what’s worth, it has lime, but if you dislike them more power to you since they are not really healthy, besides the caffeine they have a bunch of stuff.

That’s my current favourite. Here in Germany, it’s sold both at Penny and Rewe, tastes like lemonade and uses sweeteners instead of sugar. Bangin

Edit: And it’s really cheap. 60 Cents for a 0,5l can plus 25 Cents deposit

Buy some guaraná pills, eat the dust out of the pill directly so the caffeine activates faster and then drink whatever non caffeinated drink you like, like orange juice.

      For the flavour, cafe latte.

But really, if you need caffeine, your body is addicted and need to lay off the stuff for a while to get your natural self back. You shouldn’t need it to function.

Buying name brand energy drinks, in THIS economy? And I definitely don’t want to have half a liter of it in a container that can’t be closed, so if those three are the only options I pick Red Bull.
