In their “sorry” post, Moss cites this:

For example, 2 months ago, Kolanaki reached out to us via email and said they were banned from 196 for “playing the victim” and asked us why we banned him, but we didn’t. Moss talked to them and realized that the ban was unjust after reviewing the comment he was banned for. If he had never contacted us, we wouldn’t have known about the ban, and they would have still thought we banned them.

I don’t know about you, but I’d rather deal with small mistakes like this—ones that can be fixed with an apology—than see hundreds of comments harassing people based on their gender. Kolanaki hasn’t been unbanned, but I fully support the admins for keeping cis people from entering trans spaces just to be unkind and dismissive.

    Much love to Ada!

Ada is an incredible admin and the 196 mod team really misunderstood how the community at large felt about her and them. they thought they needed to get out from the oppressive thumb of an active admin, meanwhile the community at large considers the work she does impactful and necessary. so they decide to go to an admin who tolerates intolerance and think the community will go, too. they keep saying they’ll still moderate under the same formula on the new instance, but the formula people liked included Ada. there is absolutely no consensus between the mods and the community, and the mods cannot seem to square that no matter how many times it’s gently explained
