i swear to god they used to work better. modern ones either send your cursor flying off the screen with a gentle nudge, or they barely move at all. it used to be people would hold onto the nipple nubs for extended times because they preferred the precision of them over touchpads. as touchpads have gotten better, nipple nubs have gotten worse. i’d probably point to 2015 when things all went wrong. i don’t know if the manufatcurers switched to a new sensor because it was cheaper or if the software / firmware / drivers that make touchpads good also make nipple nubs horrible

we’re not to a point yet where people understand the context of remixing his creations. for now what remixing his creations does boost his signal into the feeds of people who don’t already know the context and might go looking for more webcomics like the one that made them laugh. this is an old school way of awful people to leverage “edgy” humor to get more of their propaganda in front of more people.

on the whole, what you did is like… goosing the accelerator when the light turns yellow. it’s not what you’re supposed to do, but it’s not morally reprehensible either.

as anarchists we find ourselves in these troubled times providing guidance on how to interpret and resist propaganda

the idea is more like… once you realize that nothing has any predetermined value, you get to be the final arbiter of value. you can take stock of that your ancestors invented god as an expedient to create shared community values. god doesn’t exist though. but what really mattered was that your ancestors wanted to have shared values. you can actually skip to the end and create shared values because you and your community accept them as good.

it’s a common misconception/misinterpretation that nihilism rejects value systems entirely. it’s more like what to once you realize they don’t exist without support from you and your people.

that’s the thing with hegemony. it’s so pervasive in how it programs you that you don’t even see it. you’re not even aware there are alternatives until someone jostles you awake. we live in a patriarchal white supremacist christofascist society. the enforcers of this status quo don’t all even understand that these are not genetically imparted truths inherent to our living situations, but rather social constructs enforced on us.

and i’m sure i have hegemonic blind spots too. i try my best to see out into the world and hear perspectives that aren’t my own so i can have access to the full truth. i fall short sometimes. none of us can see all things everywhere. the best you can do is have patience with sleep walkers who are non violent threats, protect people from violent threats, and be open to the idea that you can be wrong, and hope that by living with kindness and compassion you can do your part to create the enlightened society we all dream of, even the christofascist followers, where all are free.

  • new in western Europe* colonialism eliminated many societies that found ways to run their societies without the kinds of authoritarian power structures common in western Europe. the imperial powers, including eastern Asia (China and Japan), moscow, and western Europe wiped out threats to these authoritarian power structures. the societies they encountered were scientifically advanced in ways the imperial powers didn’t truly understand because those powers only interacted with the world around them via violence
