Wow, a lot of people who struggled to fit in and feel comfortable in society are addressing a major core cause of their discomfort, shocking.

Oh you want people to go back to being uncomfortable, perpetually out of place and under tension between their personal desires and societal expectations for them, why? Because you thought it was cute? Because you wanted to see them say bazinga?

“No i just accepted them for who they were” no you accepted them falling in to a pre understood and accepted stereo type that didn’t pose any underlying challenges to your core assumptions.

If you think all the nerds are gone, you’re definitely looking with your eyes sewn shut.

Also like, nerd man culture is dominated by a particularly nasty form of misogyny so its a net gain for society anyway. Take a look at examples of your stereotypical nerd in pop culture for an example e.g. The Big Bang Theory where their misogyny is played off as ultimately harmless or more infamously Revenge of the Nerds. In the real world we have examples like James Damore who wrote the manifesto that complained about women working in tech.

Trans people have always existed and plenty are nerds, just as plenty are goths with how transphobes often say “where did all the goths go?”
