I do see the harm. “Everything that looks bad is fake” is not very far from what this guy has said before, and more fake stuff circulating makes it easier for his 30% to believe him.
Don’t blame the rest of us for the Dipshit segment that will support him in anything. It doesn’t matter if they are doctored photos or true photos, their reaction will be exactly the same.
It does matter, though. That dipshit segment is lost. But there’s a big chunk of people who swing side to side. Tons of people are constantly telling them “both sides bad” (including quite a lot of .ml users on this platform). It’s not true.
But if we start saying it’s fine to lie and manipulate images like this, then it becomes a little more true.

But what makes us better than them is that we don’t have to lie. There is plenty of real stuff to throw at them. If we lie, it lets them call us liars, and they can more easily ignore the real stuff.
