There are the rich and powerful that want to cull the human population, and many will openly talk about how it should/needs to be done. Sterilizing undesirables? That is popular and common enough. Through medicine and or surgery. ✔️ Many instances of that through out history to reference too.

-this is a lot of theory and does not reflect my actual opinions- Let’s see… if I was someone like that, I imagine I might support medical/physical castration. If we get can all these undesirables (were all undesirables really) castrated in this generation, they won’t reproduce and there should be fewer of them next generation. Im writing this from their potential POV. I should delete this and move on… but perhaps to my own detriment, im gonna keep going…

I didn’t mean to get here… but since im here ill explain why I wrote this… Ill make as short as possible… and lord help me not offend.

Im not opposed to actual trans folks in general, love them in fact, some of them anyway… Theres just probably too many these days, and by that I mean I think its a fad of sorts and many “trans” folk will end up detransitioning, but after they caused harm to themselves and their relationships. Many young folk just love all the attention they get from becoming “trans”.

Dont take this as a detraction from the fact that there are some folks whos lives are better, objectively and subjectively from transitioning. Meh… lame random rant… ill post it and leave it up for a few minutes i guess…

Sorry mate, you don’t know much science about the topic. The de-transition rate is actually really low. Like 1-2% low and most of those cases are due to family pressure rather than not being trans.

That’s not a fad, especially as we’ve got thousands of years of history for trans people and they are in every culture whether that culture is supporting or not.

Thanks for your support though. Every trans person ought to have someone who if not understands them, at least accepts them.

From personal experience/observation 1-2% seems low, but moving on. In the last 2 decades the percentage of trans folks in the population has exploded. Its easy to Google to find those numbers. This is to say, “fad” might not be the most appropriate word to use, but either way its popularity has been skyrocketing.

It kinda irks me how some (you right now) want down play detransitioning so much. Some people need to, 100%. And its wild to watch some start to detransition and then get totally rejected by the trans community, like thrown out onto the streets, metaphorically… imma say this, from my perspective, being trans is fairly rare and special, but it seems like many yahoos want to jump on that bandwagon…I dont know… many people are egotistical and self centered… ill end it there…

The number of trans people has exploded! But this is more to do with it being socially acceptable. It’s like being left handed Long story short, gender dysphoria and people being trans has always been a thing, but with more acceptance comes more visibility

Detransitioners get a bad rap that they don’t deserve. But that comes from people using their detransition to fight against trans rights. I’ve never met someone who’s detransitioned, but I wouldn’t ever hold it against them. It’s incredibly hard to transition either way, and many of those support networks exist for trans people, but not for those who transition to their sex at birth.

Edit: Actually I have met a detransitioner, but he had done so because his family and country were hostile towards him

Most people who detransition don’t hold bad opinions towards the trans community though and sometimes they are still non-binary even if they aren’t medically transitioning.

If you don’t mind me asking, do you have any experience with someone who has detransitioned?

No, I dont know anyone personally. I have met 1 once though. But most of my understanding on that is from videos of those who have detransitioned.

Those videos can be deceptive, because people on the far right tend to promote them a lot. It’s because that sort of thing is scary, like a plane crash. But despite well-known investigations and news stories, plane crashes are not that common and traveling by plane is the safest form of travel. It’s the same with trans people.

My Hope and dream is that everybody can explore their own gender identity and not be judged for it. If they don’t want to gender bend or want to go back to their gender at birth, I hope they can get the resources they need.

But transgender medicine is life-saving medicine. I know because I have first-hand experience. Had I not transitioned, my life would be more of a hell than it currently is.

I know some people on Lemmy are probably not happy with your opinions, but I’m always willing to talk to people. Thanks for listening! <3
