You have a special interest in something that you can’t help being interested in. Find a server about that topic and hang out watching the conversation until you feel comfortable interjecting. Can chill in there for weeks just lurking, remember that the stakes are incredibly low in online spaces.

Step 1: Be nice to those you play games with or chat to in a discord server
Step 2: Ask if they’d like to play together or add you as friend to hang out in the future
Step 3: Hang out with new friends and enjoy having company while you’re online

Alternative step 1 that somehow works: always say the most personally cruel things you can think of without being a bigot to everybody at all times.
