Paradoxically, I also have come to believe until the country catches up to the rest of the world in education, politicians should use publicly no language beyond fourth-grade English.
I grew up poor in a poor area of the country. I also moved around a lot. I went to public schools throughout. While there were certainly a few subpar circumstances in the education system, on the whole, I got a good education, one that equipped me well once I got out of my “young adult with a chip on my shoulder” phase.
What astounds me is that it appears that a vast majority of the country did not receive an education that equipped them for adulthood. That we would even need to consider that we have to lower our standards and write at a 4th grade level. To me it’s like argumentum ad absurdum.
There was a podcast that I listened to recently, where the islanders mentioned that they knew of the white plantation owners progeny as the dumb and lazy ones - resting on their laurels over generations had made them stupid and ill equipped.
So perhaps this is the circle of life, the meek shall inherit the Earth. All I can think is that the system has failed us, or maybe we have failed ourselves. I dunno.

Perhaps, yes. I’d just rather not be around for when the decadents bring it all crashing down around our ears, which seems to be the step right before that conclusion.
World War 3 will kill the meek, and maybe they deserve it, because we were comfortable doing nothing while fascists not only took complete control, they did it while warning us beforehand.
World War 3 will kill everyone because if it doesn’t begin with nuclear weapons it will end with them. Maybe the meek die first, but the strong won’t last too long after such an event either.
I think it’s a mistake to idolize international war, or any war for that matter, as some great or omnipotent filter that would only affect a specific group.
As long as people exist, so will the meek, the strong, fascists, and everyone else.
That’s a very valid point. They shouldn’t be perceived as talking down to the average person, and the bar is quite low with our public education system.
I miss having our nation represented by a person with strong command of his tongue and pen.
