If I put my wallet in a locker, then you come by after I leave and break into the locker, that’s theft and not violence. If I set a booby trap in the locker I would be at fault because an innocent could get hurt, but if I catch your hand in my pocket and twist it off you got what was coming to you.

No, not over things. I’m not talking about laying a trap to protect a thing. I’m talking about being robbed. I do not care what motivates the attacker if they attack me on the street, that’s why we have carry permits; so everyone can know up front that street robbery is risking your life for nickles.

You’re describing the gravity fed charcoal grills from masterbuilt and I love mine. Especially when I toss in a cast iron pan full of bacon and run it at 450 for half an hour.

I have a Masterbuilt that has optional firmware updates sometimes, nothing mandatory and certainly nothing automatic. It’s a gravity fed charcoal grill that works like a computer controlled forced air rocket stove. Gets up to 700 degs from cold in 10 mins if I want or hold 225 for the rest of time as long as I keep feeding charcoal into the hopper and emptying the ash bin. The computer is adding actual value.

No soggy pellets, no weird feeding issues, the biggest problem I’ve had with it was the hatch sensors all going out over time, but once I jumped the circuit past them it worked fine again to this very day, going on six years now.

We’ve got carnies, which have a similarly cool-unsavory reputation but they do their best to pick the pockets voluntarily. UK has some squatter protection and a history of accepting and sometimes even romanticizing the gypsies which USA does not, so any illegal encampment that has any property worth having in violation of zoning is run out very quickly, especially out in the country where you might just get shot in the head for trying.

Yeah but we’re not talking about things here, we’re talking about people coming up and taking from you, which is an act of violence to which one should certainly expect a response. Don’t like the response? Keep your hands to yourself, simple as that.
