something with the DE I suspect. KDE will do the same thing. never had the issue with another compositor/WM but with KDE Plasma every now and again the exact same thing you’re experiencing would happen. shut down, something in Plasma is still going and same results as you.

I used some old USB-C headphones from an old google pixel phone for a long time, no issues at all good quality.
rozodru@piefed.socialto Linux@lemmy.ml•Hi, I want to install Linux along side Win 10.English41·9 days agohonestly any distro you want. Try a few out. Load a bunch of live ISO’s on a usb drive and give them a spin. Distro hop until you find one you really like. that’s the beauty of Linux they’re all pretty easy to set up (hell even Arch is easy to set up now) so you can try a bunch of different ones.
You want to tinker and play around with your system? try an Arch based distro. You want something that has great support and will just work out of the box? try an Ubuntu one. Want something really unique that you can take with you where ever you go? give NixOS a shot. There are a ton of options and they’re all pretty good.
I would suggest you get one that’s arch based, one fedora, one ubuntu, maybe nixos, one debian, etc and see which one you like best.

without fail whenever they roll out an update you’ll see threads on mastodon or bluesky with people saying “welp, my Ubuntu is fucked” after an update.

That’s half the fun though isn’t? I’ll tinker on my arch or nixos machines all the time just changing things, playing around with customization, trying out repos and what have you. I love just trying out new stuff people have made and seeing if I can use it for my workflow.
