I use Framework 13 with AMD for my Linux laptop, love it. I do not want to go back to any other brand.

Some vendors also have multiple BIOS-es on the same GPU card (like one overclocked BIOS, and the other is a “normal” BIOS).
You could check if there is a physical switch to switch between modes on your GPU. And see if the other GPU BIOS is also behaving like this.
The reason why I would choose linux mint. Is the stability of the whole distro. It’s pretty solid. You can still upgrade kernels. Or even install mainline kernel tool if you wish.
Furthermore, Linux mint provide an easy tool to install drivers, in case you’re running a Nvidia card. And Mint is just basically Ubuntu under the hood,without the crap of Ubuntu. Meaning mint also support PPAs (personal package repositories). If you wish to get some updated package.
I run Linux Mint for years and years, I think you will be happy with it.

Multiple good reasons actually:
- 2.8k version, comes with a great 2.8k display. A very high quality screen, high DPI (can be set exactly to factor 2x DPI scaling, so no fraction scaling).
- The new screen also have improved brightness (higher brightness)
- The 2.8k version despite the name, also has bigger battery of 61Wh compared to the 55Wh
- You will also get the 2nd generation webcam module, which not only gives better image during day light, but also in low light conditions
Nice! I do like my AMD Framework though. But anyhow, nice to see there is a RISC-V option as well. Especially for early birds, that is for sure.

YES! Big yes. I have one as well. Very pleased with it. Be very sure you pick the new 2.8k display version. So either pick 7640U - 2.8K Display or 7840U - 2.8K Display. Which works great for Linux, WITHOUT the need of fractional scaling.
Also be sure to pick the correct + right amount of expansion cards for your needs. 1 USB-C will be used for charging, so just saying.
