I think it’s low quality more than low effort. Low effort often gets low quality, but someone could spend hours making a bad Photoshop joke and it’s still shit

There is opportunity cost of Microsoft et al investing billions in AI instead of doing anything else. That money could have been spent on renewable energy research, improving efficiency of existing hardware, supporting work from home to reduce commuting, whatever. Those opportunities are lost because they went with AI instead.
I didn’t mean my opportunity cost from the toilet.
AI is a poor use of limited resources and opportunity.
I really don’t think the billions of dollars spent on AI is equivalent or at all analogous to the time I spend posting on the toilet or while waiting for things to happen at work.
The opportunity cost for AI is pretty high. That’s a lot of resources spent on something that’s bad for the world, even if it’s not specifically the worst for climate change reasons in a first order sense.
They’re already shooting people I support.

28·25 days agoI remember okcupid had a question (back when their system was based on answering questions) that asked “is it possible for a partner to be too ambitious?”
I was like “clearly some of you assholes never read Macbeth”.
Also, the CEO of my old job was on the dating apps at the same time as me. Despite us being about the same age, I’m confident very few people would match with both of us. “Never worked, just grad school and CEO founder” seekers don’t also seek me.
Yes.
Primarily, too much fear response. Fear makes you stupid.
Secondarily, too much in-group loyalty. They’ll do and believe anything if that’s what the group believes.
Do you live in such an area?
If you were make an ordered list of things that destroy a community, where does “petty theft of groceries” fall on the list? What other things are included?
trying to shame people into switching without taking into account these environmental variables just makes you a prick.
You’re right about how shame doesn’t work. It’s an enduring peeve of mine that you have to butter people up and manage their emotions to get them to do anything. It just feels like everyone’s a toddler that needs a shiny sticker so they won’t poison themselves. You’ll be like “smoking is bad for you and everyone around you” and they’ll be like “fuck you I’m going to smoke more now”.
However, in this case the person said they had viable transit. It was just ten minutes slower.
You are making the world worse by driving when other options are available.
You then responded to this claim by changing the topic to how billionaires are making the world worse. That’s a whole other topic. That’s probably a deflection to preserve your sense of self as a good person.
If you truly believe “other people are worse so I’m allowed to be bad too” then go ahead and say it. I don’t think that’s a great moral framework, but it would require you to admit that your unnecessary driving is in fact bad, so I’d take that as a win.
Because my driving to work in my car is somehow so much worse on our entire world compared to what billionaires are doing
That wasn’t the claim. My point was that driving makes the world worse. The presence of other people making the world worse to greater degrees or at greater speed is irrelevant.
You’re arguing against a made up claim, probably to justify feeling attacked. Your ego is threatened. It’s common for people to lash out when their sense of being a Good Person is threatened.
✨ externalized costs ✨
You saved 10 minutes of time and some personal convenience, and made the world worse for everyone else.
I think all of my shirts either have no logo, or have a logo for something i like and want to talk about (eg: a band, a local attraction).
I wouldn’t want to advertise some soulless megacorp like adidas
Please start live streaming your actions in public for us all to watch. You don’t have any abusive exes or family members, I hope. Also I trust you’ve never said anything to irritate right wing fanatics. Maybe if it’s a little more personal, you’d have a little more empathy.
Also, of note, not all limits are from the law. Peer pressure and private businesses saying “You can’t do that in here” are also tools.
Something being legal doesn’t make it good.
People want to be able to go out into the world without being filmed. That was the case for thousands of years. It is not unreasonable to expect limits on recording in public.
Now one of the worst organizations on earth (meta) wants to record everyone and everything for their private benefit. People are mad.
People assume it’s all terminal all the time. I haven’t needed to open the terminal for months. It starts up. With the GUI I open the browser. Maybe steam, too. Do stuff. Shut down.
I don’t disagree with your post but I’m pretty sure the joke in the meme is the one calling themselves a nice guy is actually an asshole. That’s revealed in the “stop ignoring my DMs” ending. So it’s not actually a pro “nice guy” meme. Which you probably got, but maybe missed it?

I was going to make a joke about how that doesn’t sound child friendly, and about how people would sometimes hide their porn in a folder named innocuously
