Yeah, but that’s an argument against being able to live forever, not an argument against evolution being able to happen, if you did.

That is indeed what happens, and it is helpful. But I disagree evolution wouldn’t happen without it.
There is also nothing inherently wrong with “optimization” and “automation”. It’s just that they are buzzwords and how the tech bros approach these topics.
Hmm, why can’t there be evolution without death? As long as organisms reproduce, genes are passed on, and some reproduce more successfully than others, why would it matter if existing individuals stay around or not? I don’t see how it makes evolution fundamentally impossible.

1·10 days agoIt was NOT found to be untrue. Full stop. It was found to be unsubstantiated.
You are right, I was imprecise. What I meant is that “it was not found to be true”, not that “it was found to be not true”.

21·11 days agoI think it looks good for the integrity of Linus that he took the blame and never revealed the identity of the logistics employee that made the mistake of misassigning the prototype for the auction. He could’ve easily thrown them under the bus and fired them instead, because their mistake did real reputational damage to the company.

It was found to be an untrue allegation by a third party. You can of course choose to not believe them, but there was never any proof and everyone who works there denies it (and a lot of women work there), so take of that what you will.

Very true
anti union
Linus is not anti-union. He said he would consider it a personal failure if his employees felt the need to unionize, but he supports their right to do so.

2·11 days agoThe warranty for his (I think it was a) backpack, was trust me bro.
To be fair, the warranty was proposed to be “trust me bro”, the community very much didn’t like that, so it actually came with a real warranty when it launched. So it never actually happened.

He’s actually super nice in person, only plays a character of an asshole for the show.
I have no idea. Guess people like getting thumbs ups and comments.
I saw a top comment on a music video on YouTube with “Anyone watching on specifically today’s date”. Tons of engagement because of course everyone is watching today.
Dude just had a script setup to edit the comment every day, so for years it always asked about today’s date.
Says “up to”. It will probably come with 2TB, but they are happy to put in more if you want to pay for extra. But 40TB is when they start to refuse your unreasonable requests.
You don’t have to trust the security checks, but they had to submit their personal information and documents to Uber, and would be easy to find if they did anything. And have two devices actively recording their location. That’s much better than an anonymous stranger, and I doubt a predator would go through all that instead of just, you know, remaining an anonymous person on the street.

Except building the concrete structure is the easiest and fastest part of building a house anyway. Not that concrete printing is not helpful, it is, but with a task that’s a minor part of building a house anyway.
