boy do i have a parsimonious answer for you: gender and sexuality are made up by society so you don’t need to have a sexuality, you can just be attracted to some people and not to others.
i have a very very strange sexuality where i’m simply attracted to hot and cute people
making a character suffer in order to get a power up is really such a trivially simple and reliable way to make things feel earned and it’s kinda baffling it’s not used more/better
it’s like the hero’s journey and other writing tools, it’s predictable but nonetheless it just fucking works.
my hero academia remains the most tolerable shounen i’ve seen since it minimizes the bullshit like this, if they scream it’s generally a situation that calls for screaming (and implied to be way shorter than what’s shown) and if they shout the name of a move it’s because they’ve got fuckin tape elbows or whatever and they’re proud of coming up with a way to make use of that to stop people from dying.

yeah it’s really only a thing on trains, because you don’t want the doors opening by accident and letting the noise in from the door area constantly.
on many swedish trains this is just how you open the door, and i love that they decided to implement it this way
