Linux keeps getting more development because it is the cheapest way to develop a platform. It is the reason why almost all servers are Linux and it was used as the basis for Android.
That said, Steam is a wildly profitable company that is self aware enough to not kill its golden goose.

I think a big part of it is that a lot of gaming companies keep wanting to make AAA gaming, but no one wants to pay for AAA gaming.

Adding money to the free space though at least gives you an opportunity to get back in the game.

The problem is that there were a lot of different versions of the game that ended up being the basis for a lot of house rules.
It is also the case of asking if an account is a bot account where you can’t tell after a quick glance of their history. There are ways of dealing with spam accounts, but there isn’t a way to deal with bot accounts that aren’t blatant spam.
As shit as Reddit is, there isn’t any built in failsafe for Lemmy.
I’d consider it worse than Edison. Edison’s real contribution to technology was the creation of a company R&D lab geared towards new products. He would invest in the development of the product before it became big.

There are already several transit systems that have converted to cashless systems. There is also a push to some stores to cashless as well.
Cash may be a superior way for kids to handle money, but I can see some areas where having cash isn’t viable.
If I was a parent, I would want the wallet to act as a debit only system. However, I could see the utility in giving my kid a debit like system with $10 on it.
