Claiming Bitcoin is anonymous is indeed a common mistake, which I didn’t make.

Pseudonyms can help provide privacy, the issue is that those pseudonyms are permanently tied to Bitcoin wallets. Making a transaction with an exchange or seller while providing a full identity allow that exchange to trace all transactions and reassociate identities.

You do make good point, Bitcoin’s use of permanent pseudonyms is another reason why Bitcoin isn’t useful for daily private payments.

Bicoin isn’t useful for private daily payments given the high volatility and fees and inefficiency. It was the intention but didn’t pan out.

Today’s main uses cases for Bitcoin:

    • Speculative investments
    • Money laundering
    • Russia, North Korea, and Iran escaping international sanctions

  • Some actionnable suggestions :

    • Verify disk using smartmontools.
    • Verify memory using memcheck.
    • (Temporarily) disable unofficial apt repos, do apt update, purge then reinstall the affected packages.
    • If that didn’t help or you need more help, you could go to kali forum to politely request help, with a precise description of the issue. Please refrain from ranting even if you’re annoyed.

Keep in mind this is free software provided without warranty. No one ows you a stable experience nor support. People are giving this software away and volonteering time and resources to make this happen. If there’s a bug and you need it fixed, please submit a bug report, ideally with a patch to fix it.

  • Somewhat obvious tips to get a more stable experience:

    • Use a distribution that favour stability over being on the bleeding edge. Like Debian stable, or another distribution that maintain LTS releases,
    • Install software from the distribution’s official package repositories. Avoid third party packages and repos as much as possible. If you really need a third party repo, verify it’s compatible with your specific distro and has reputation for being well maintained,
    • When you do see a problem, take time to troubleshoot and if necessary make a bug report with necessary information for developers to identify the problem, so there’s a better chance to see it fixed.
    • If you use Linux in a professional settings, there is paid support available out there, in some cases this get you priority for bug fixes.
