  • The performance impact of these systems really aren’t a problem for most modern computers. If your computer is running other GUI applications, I think worrying about that is insane. If you’re running a server, sure keep it minimal because you aren’t going to interact with it directly much. For your desktop if you’re running games and stuff, it’s going to be the smallest of your issues. Just do what feels best.

Even Valve, optimizing their handheld device for maximum battery life, includes KDE. You shouldn’t worry about it probably.

You do what works for you, but that doesn’t seem like the original intent. They/them is for everybody by default. You don’t really need to list it besides to say you don’t recognize others. The first and second pronoun listed is usually the same gendered term, but for a different purpose. He/him or she/her are both male or female respectively.

I’d argue to write what you’re saying it should be she/her/they/them. It doesn’t really matter at the end of the day, but it does make the format confusing if the rules become murky.

I’m a cis man though, so it’s not really my place to say.

It’s impossible without federation too. Reddit still estimates what the number currently is based on the last known number and the rate of change. It still takes time to propagate around the world, so it isn’t accurate. Federation just makes this time even longer, although with fewer users it may be more accurate still.

You’re on a thread that’s effectively saying America doesn’t have racist traditions like Europe does. The comment above just calmly points out that we do, and some of it is part of our existing legal system. You don’t get to insult Europeans (in a way that seems to at least in part be made up) and then get angry when someone points out very legitimate real racism that actually effects a large number of people’s lives.

The safest speed to drive is the speed of traffic, because the thing that’s most likely to cause accidents is changing lanes or speed. Traffic is almost always moving faster than the speed limit, so the speed limit actually reduces safety. If they were designed based on the speed people feel comfortable driving then they’d be reasonable and safe, but that’s not how they were decided. Speed limits are bad.
